ArbDB Member, Michael Cover, Attends The FIDIC 2014 Multi-lateral Bank Conference In Brussels 2/3 June 2014

ArbDB Member, Michael Cover attended the FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) bi-annual Multi-Lateral Development Bank (MDB) Conference in Brussels on 2 and 3 June 2014.

 

The conference was attended by representatives of many of the MDB’s from around the world, including the World Bank, the African Development Bank and CariBank. The theme was harmonizing international procurement and, amongst other things, the conference looked at the experience of the FIDIC Harmonised Contract or ‘Pink Book’, integrity and corruption and project selection.

 

Michael commented: ‘I was delighted to have the opportunity to attend this conference. I was particularly interested to see that there is a developing debate on whether there should be a closer role for the MDB’s within the contract on project oversight and supervision. It was also interesting to see the move towards the provision of mixed credits for projects, employing a mix of grants, loans and even private equity investment.’
