The Worshipful Company of Arbitrators invites expressions of interest in two Travelling Scholarships in Private Dispute Resolution (Arbitration, Mediation, Adjudication), each to be taken up for 4 weeks in Dubai in March/April 2016.

These two Travelling Scholarships, each worth £5,000, will include flights, accommodation, an allowance for subsistence and health/travel insurance.  The Scholarships are to be funded by the Charitable Trust of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators.

We are looking for exceptional candidates, who will typically be at a post-experience stage, with at least a first degree and probably a professional qualification as a lawyer, engineer, quantity surveyor, accountant or similar.  A keen interest in and passion for private dispute resolution is important.  You may well have already embarked on formal training as an arbitrator, mediator or adjudicator.  Excellent report writing skills are essential, as are integrity and the ability to respect confidentiality.

The Scholarships will each include travel to Dubai, visiting and working with local administering institutions and law firms and claims consultants.  This will involve shadowing party representatives in dispute resolution.  It may also involve time as a Third Party Neutral’s Marshall or Clerk.

The successful two candidates will each be required to produce a Report on a relevant private dispute resolution topic, focusing on the relative positions of Dubai and London in the area of international dispute resolution.  It is intended that the Report will be published, with credit to the author, and the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators will have the freedom to publish.

For further information on the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators, please visit www.arbitratorscompany.org.

Please send expressions of interest via email to:  juff@keatingchambers.com, setting out your qualifications and experience, personal details and location and names and email contact for two referees; also in up to 150 words, why you consider we should select you.

Applications should be received by 11 December 2015.
